Clark M.
Johnson of Delaware St., Glasco died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at
Benedictine Hospital. He was 67.
He was born August 20, 1939 in Staten Island, the son of the late John
and Edith Olsen Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served in the Navy from 1959-1963 on the U.S.S. Intrepid as
a radar specialist. His fondest memory was the Project Mercury recover
of Lt.Cmdr. Scott M. Carpenter on May 24, 1962. He also retired from the
New York Army National Guard in 1999 as a Sgt. in the 1st. Bn. 156th.
Field Artillery and later served at headquarters in Albany.
Mr. Johnson worked for a total of 42 years in law enforcement. He worked
as a patrolman for the NYC Transit Authority from 1965-1970 and as a
deputy for the Ulster County Sheriff's Dept. from 1970-1972 and as a
police officer for the Town of Saugerties police department from 1972
until 2000 when he retired. He worked for the Ulster Co. Sheriff's Dept.
as a security officer from 2000-2007 and part-time for the Village of
Saugerties police department. In 1987, he was honored by the Ulster
County Police Chiefs Assoc. for meritorious service.
He was Past Commander of Saugerties V.F.W. Post, 5034; Past Junior Vice
Commander of Kingston V.F.W. Post 1386; a member of American Legion Post
72; former vice-president and affiliate life member of the Town of
Saugerties P.B.A.; former vice-president of the Greene County Police
Officers Assoc.; a member of the New York State Security & Law
Enforcement Retirees, Chapter 82; a member of the 156th Field Artillery
Regimental Veteran's Assoc; the U.S.S. Intrepid Assoc.; a life-member of
the Saugerties Fish and Game Club; a member of Hudson Valley Lodge 432,
Sons of Norway; Blue Kats Men's Club; he was a live member of Saugerties
R.A. Snyder Fire Co; Saugerties Exempt Firemen's Assoc.; and an exempt
member of the Glasco Fire Co.
On September 29, 1968 he married Margaret Marinzulich who survives at
home. Also surviving are two sons, Eric C. of Kingston and Edward A. of
Glasco, a sister, Carol Ann Johnson of Staten Island and his
father-in-law, Anthony Marinzulich of Saugerties. Several cousins also
survive. |
