Irma Jean (Torzsas) Saia

Anxious after graduation for immediate employment I commuted downtown Manhattan and worked for an insurance company. Met and dated a fellow employee and he and I married in October l963. We lived briefly in Brooklyn, then built a house in Long Island, where we raised four children. I was a stay at home mom, active in church and community, a part-time library clerk and reading tutor. Involved as den mother, Pioneer guide and Little League cheering squad. Enjoyed baking, sewing, bowling and singing in the choir. The family took car trips to states along the east coast and Canada. Later trips to Hawaii, England, Italy, Hungary, Spain and I realized my high school secret desire to travel was fulfilled. In 2004 moved to an Adult Community down the Jersey shore and enjoying this active retirement lifestyle with my husband of 45 years.(An unexpected reward was moving and living near two very dear friends from Tottenville.) I continue to travel, flower gardening, reading and enjoy meeting and making new friends. I am blessed with two beautiful grandsons who have made my joy complete. Time greets us with up and down experiences in life but I'm thankful for what I have. Can't believe it's 50 years since high school days! Sixth period lunch pals where are you? Especially “THE 3 J'S” See you at the Re-union?
