Joan (Perry) Nicholls

Personal biography of Joan (Perry) Nicholls - class of 1958 Tottenville High School

I met my husband George in 1957 while he was in the service, during my senior year at school, we  got engaged on graduation day and were married in July 1959.

After graduation I went to work in the city for Western Electric and Oakite and worked there till 1962 and when  I left to have our first child (Richard) who was born in May 1963, our second son (Scott) was born in June 1965.

I was a stay at home mother till 1974 when I went back to work as a school crossing guard and stayed at that job till 1989 when I opened a bridal shop in New Dorp, we closed the shop in 1992, and I went to work at A & S Bridal in Woodbridge and stayed there till they closed the store.

I then went to work at Bradlee's to manager their lunch cafe, when Bradlee's closed in 1998 I then went to work for Sear's retail store and stayed there till 2002 when I retired.

I am now a grandmother of three children (2 boys and 1 girl) born to my son Scott and my daughter--law Jayce.  Scott is now retired from the NYPD after 20 years and my other son Richard still works for Keyspan Gas Company.

Along the way my husband did some traveling for his job to Japan/Korea and I went with him in 1984, we have  visited  the Caribbean numerous times and have been to San Diego/Arizona/Florida/Virginia on business/vacation  with my husband.

In 2002 we both retired and moved to our house in Rehoboth Beach, DE where the pace of living is a lot slower then Staten Island, NY.
