After graduating from Tottenville High School, I went to Wagner College and finished in three and a half years with a degree in Elementary Education. While there I was in a sorority and Captain of the Cheerleading squad. On March 19, 1955, while a freshman at THS I met Rolf Stensrud, THS ’56, at a birthday party and he asked me to dance. We became engaged on Rolf’s Wagner College graduation day, June 6, 1960. At the graduation he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. On February 3, 1962 we had a military wedding at the Great Kills Moravian Church. Marine Lieutenant Thor Stensrud, THS ’57, was the best man. In 1963, we moved from Quantico, VA to Wallingford, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia) where we have lived for the last 45 years. I taught elementary school for 5 years. Our daughter, Wendy, was born in 1967 and son Kirk in 1971. Wendy, her husband and 2 children live 2 minutes away. Kirk, his wife and 3 children live 30 minutes away. The grandchildren range in age from 20 months to 12 years. For the last 25 years I have had a business making decorative accessories for the home, which can be seen on my website, www.PSOriginalsOnline.com. Rolf finished up his 37 years in banking as President of a Philadelphia bank. He tells people he is now managing his personal investments, along with golf, tennis and diapers. You are blessed when you marry your best friend, as we have. |
