Richard A. Cote

Two years active duty from January 1959 to January 1961, with the U. S. Navy aboard USS Yosemite Destroyer Tender AD19 assigned to deck division.  We made one four month deployment in the Mediterranean with ports in Spain, Italy, Sicily and Athens, Greece.

Two years in Electrical/Mechanical Drafting with Century Stage Lighting Company.

Two years as a convention display carpenter (in Pleasant Plains) with Graphics Display Company.

In 1965 appointed to NYC Transit Police.  Assigned for three years to the plain clothes decoy squad, where I posed as a Hasidic Jew (beard and all).  I retired from the force in 1984 with the rank of Detective (Major Case Investigation Squad).

I was married to Evelyn Bakun (Curtis H.S.) on April 20, 1963, at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Pleasant Plains.  It was the day of the big fire on the south shore.  The fire department was fighting a fire behind the church during the ceremony.

Moved to East Setauket, Long Island in 1967 and we are still here.  We have three children (one daughter and two sons), nine grandchildren and one great-grand daughter.

Since retirement, my wife and I have been on numerous cruises and several trips to the Dominican Republic.  Not too shabby for a kid from Tottenville High School.
