About 1 year after graduation I met a wonderful young lady in Sarasota Fl.  We married in 1960 and had three lovely daughters. Currently I have 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, six of which are stepchildren.  Shortly after her retirement in 2005, Mrs. Schaefer was found to have massive cancers and she passed away 9 months later.     

For about 8 years I worked in a retail environment and then decided that there had to be something better out there.  I attended an intense 1-year computer-programming course and became a systems programmer right out of school.    Software businesses that I worked in were: Banking, Retail Distribution and Flooring Distribution.  During my employment I installed banking and retail software over much of the US and banking software internationally.  This offered the opportunity for my wife and I to travel worldwide. 

Retirement came unexpectedly in 2000 when Mrs. Schaefer took a job at the school board in Asheville, NC where we intended to retire some day.  She called my office told me to retire and we moved to the mountains.
