After
THS I attended Hope College in Michigan for my B.A. and then the
Univ. of New Mexico in Albuquerque for my Ph.D. in Latin
American history. From 1996-2001 I taught Latin American
history at the University of Missouri in Columbia. I taught
part-time 2001-04 and then retired completely. My work took me
to most countries of Latin America, especially Venezuela where
two of my main concerns were military politics and oil politics.
After a first marriage failed I married Isabel "Ibby" MacLeod
and we've been married 26 years. No children. We still live in
Columbia although we spend much of our summers in Quonochontaug,
R.I. We love to travel, but when we're home we help first and
third graders to read at a low-income elementary school and I've
also been a volunteer organist at the university hospital for
over 25 years. The last THS event I attended was the 100th
anniversary in 1998. My sister Gertrude ("Trudy", THS '56) is
widowed and lives in Highland Falls, N.Y. |
