We Need a Current Photo

Robert Davidson

After graduating from Tottenville High, I attended Drew University in Madison, NY, where I majored in history and met my bride-to-be, Mary Peck from Binghamton, NY.  We were married Thanksgiving Day in 1961(we just celebrated our 45th anniversary!).  In March of 1962 I went to work for the National Park Service in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.  Over the next 34 years, I worked at nine different National Park sites in New Mexico, Colorado, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, including Buck Island Reef National Monument, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, and Gettysburg National Military Park.  I served in various capacities in these parks as Ranger-Historian, Chief Ranger, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent.  My career kept my family on the move, but we enjoyed a great adventure and a wide variety in scenery and historic places.  I retired in 1994.

During those years, my wife and I raised 5 children (3 boys and 2 girls), who subsequently married and are now raising our 11 grandchildren located in Florida, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.  We now live in Greenwood, SC, which is half way between Columbia and Greenville.

Over the years my primary interests have included singing in various choruses including barbershop music; Lions Club; travel; and church activities.  I have volunteered for the past 13 years with Habitat for Humanity.  Our travels, both national and international, have increased significantly since retirement, and we normally take 2 major trips a year besides regular visits to see our children and grandchildren.  I was able to return to Tottenville many times between 1962 and 1990 to visit my parents, so I have kept up with changes in the area over the years.  I have very fond memories of my years at Tottenville High and the education I received there.
