1957 Fiftieth Anniversary Reunion Pictures

Lee's Collection.

Tour of old THS Campus on Saturday Morning, Saturday Oct. 6th.

Those of us who chose to go on a tour of the old THS Campus, met at the City Limits Cafe just across the street from where the Hut was.

We got together here for Breakfast and to give us a gathering point before the tour itself.

One more opportunity for everybody to catch up on 50 years of not seeing each other!

We're all in this picture, somewhere!

have been changed since the 1950s?

his tour of the school and it's history since 1957.

Bert Springstead was responsible for getting us a permit to visit the old THS Campus.  He has stayed active in school activities on Staten Island since we graduated in 1957.  There isn't much that has happened in this building that he isn't familiar with.  While some folks took off on our own to investigate on their own, another group stayed with Bert and took advantage of his kind patience and knowledge as he explained what has stayed the same and what has changed.  Those of us that took Bert's personal tour can never thank him enough for sharing with us what he knows.

The Guys that stuck with Bert during his 'Tour.'  We had our Gals with us, but I don't know why they aren't in this picture.

One of the old door knobs as we knew them.  The new knobs are not molded so elaborately.

This picture has a history for me, which is why I took it.

I've always remembered this phone booth on the main floor of our High School, because it was in this booth that I learned that public phones don't give change.   Put in too much money, and you lose the change.  (Hey!  I never said I was a bright bulb)!  Today, I'm amazed that an antique like this booth still exists, anywhere in the U.S.A.  I'll bet you won't find anything like this in the new THS Campus.  You think?

Do you recognize this building?  This is where the "Hut" used to be.  Bert told us that there is now a new "Hut" near the new campus.  I spent a number of lunch hours in this place, rather than at the school cafeteria.

Don't ask me who this is.  Just remember, it's Oct. 6th, 2007!

In case your are wondering what this has to do with our 50th Anniversary Graduation Reunion... this is MY collection of pictures, and these are some of my 1957 classmate-friends.  All of these folks had lunch together, (after the THS Tour) at a restaurant at Great Kills Harbor.  These folks are, Ted Rice, my wife Carol, me, Winfield Burggraaff & Judy Swanson Anderson.  We had a great meal, and a wonderful time.

After this and our trip to the beach, we split up to get ready for the Reunion Dinner that evening.
