TOTTENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

CLASS OF 1965 - 45^th REUNION, etc.

Dear 1965 Classmate:

We are pleased to announce the 45^th Class reunion. We have decided to move it to June in order to reduce the likelihood of our Florida classmates not being able to make it due to a hurricane. In addition, in response to suggestions made after the last reunion, we are expanding this to a three-day affair. It will be held June 11-13, 2010. As it stands now, we have the schedule set up as follows:

Friday, June 11

7:00 p.m. – midnight

Old Bermuda Inn – 2512 Arthur Kill Rd., Staten Island, NY

A cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres followed by a buffet dinner and dancing. We will have the same DJ as we had for the 40^thand the same photographer, too. Cost per person will is estimated to be $85-100 per person.

Saturday, June 12

9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon (time and event are tentative)

Old Tottenville High Tour

These tours have taken place in recent years, but the person at the school who is the contact for this event is going to retire next year and it is not known if his successor will want to take on this added work. Nevertheless, we would like to know if you are interesting in going if it were offered. A nominal fee may be required.

12:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Columbus Club of Tottenville – 100 Kreischer St., Staten Island, NY

A picnic at the grounds of the Knights of Columbus in Charleston. Clam chowder, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, barbecue chicken and beef, watermelon, and unlimited beer and soda. A tent will be provided for shelter of up to 100 people and more space is available. There are places to play badminton, bocce, and horseshoes. Please note there is no parking lot, so you will have to park on the street and walk up to three blocks. Per person cost will likely be $25-30.

Sunday, June 13

A farewell Sunday brunch. Time and place have yet to be determined, but if you are interested we would need to know so we can figure out the approximate size room we need. The Old Bermuda Inn is a possibility. The Staten Island Hotel is, too, but they have been sold and we do not know what their new owner plans to have in the way of eating / banquet facilities. Costs per person are likely to be $30 minimum.

Also, because of the uncertainty with the Staten Island Hotel, we may need to find a block of rooms elsewhere. A Hampton Inn is already open and is next door to the Hilton Garden Inn. Two other hotels are supposed to be constructed in the same area. We will continue to monitor the situation, but need an idea of how many rooms we need to reserve so that we can get the best rate available.

Now on to the etc. part. Dennis Bentsen, one of our classmates, has established a web site for our class. It is www.tottenville65.com and is dedicated to the memories we had at THS. It is a work in progress. Den’s latest project is to scan the Purple Parrot and have it available for viewing on a CD or DVD.
